Trump had proposed a $10,000 bonus for controllers who continued working during the shutdown and threatened negative marks for those who walked off the job. Buttigieg responded on social media, saying Trump &#8220;wouldn&#8217;t last five minutes as an air traffic controller&#8221; and condemned the way the management has treated these workers. The shutdown, now over 40 days long, has resulted in missed paychecks for air traffic controllers and a reduction in flights at multiple locations. Last week, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-transportation\/\">Transportation Department<\/a> announced a 10% <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/infrastructure\/3876774\/sean-duffy-flight-reductions-shutdown-air-traffic-controller-shortage\/\">reduction in flights<\/a> at 40 locations due to a shortage of air traffic controllers.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid, IN FULL, shortly into the future, I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU,&rdquo; Trump wrote on Truth Social.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday night, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/senate\/\">Senate<\/a> successfully voted to proceed on the continuing resolution to fund the government.
