Rules for Praying Football Coach\">local school district’<\/a>s policy that banned the use of biological sex pronouns when referring to transgender students. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit,in a 10-7 en banc decision, sided with Defending Education,a parental rights group opposing what it sees as indoctrination in schools. the group had sued the Olentangy Local School District in 2023, arguing that the policy forced students to conform their speech to the district’s views on gender identity. The court issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting the district from punishing students for using biological pronouns. The majority opinion emphasized that the district presented no evidence that using biological pronouns disrupted school operations or constituted harassment.Defending Education hailed the decision as a major victory for student speech and parental rights.Though, a dissenting judge cautioned that the ruling might complicate efforts by educators to maintain safe and productive school environments.
