Speaking on Fox News&#8217;s Varney &#038; Co, Concha argued that while socialist candidates might win in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/covid-school-closures-will-hurt-us-economy-for-decades-economists-project\/\" title=\"COVID School Closures Will Hurt US Economy For Decades, Economists Project\">large urban areas<\/a> such as New York, Chicago, or Seattle, their appeal is limited outside major cities. He suggested that socialism is highly likely to be rejected on a wider national scale, as the broader electorate tends to favor more centrist or right-leaning candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Concha pointed out that Mamdani&#8217;s narrow win in New York City, with just over 50% of the vote, pales in comparison to the stronger performances of past and more moderate politicians like former Mayor Eric Adams and Vice President Kamala Harris, who won the city with around 67% and 70% respectively. Despite endorsements from prominent progressive figures like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as well as establishment Democrats such as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Governor Kathy Hochul, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >socialist candidates face meaningful challenges<\/a> in gaining widespread national support. They won in some blue states and the biggest blue city on Tuesday. Former Vice President Kamala Harris <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/vote.nyc\/sites\/default\/files\/pdf\/election_results\/2024\/20241105General%20Election\/00000100000Citywide%20President%20Vice%20President%20Citywide%20Recap.pdf\">won the city with 70%<\/a> of the vote during last year&rsquo;s election.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/3877471\/why-tuesdays-election-win-for-democrats-really-wasnt-that-big-a-deal-or-unexpected\/\"><strong>WHY TUESDAY&rsquo;S ELECTION WIN FOR DEMOCRATS REALLY WASN&rsquo;T THAT BIG A DEAL OR UNEXPECTED<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Both Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3454811\/sanders-criticism-mamdani-radical-insists-democrats-follow-his-lead\/\">endorsed Mamdani<\/a>. Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have some wondering if their national &ldquo;Fight Oligarchy&rdquo; tour will be followed by a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2028-elections\/\">presidential run<\/a>. Their staunch support of Mamdani encouraged even House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3875093\/schumer-sidesteps-mamdani-endorsement-nyc-polls-closing\/\">endorse him<\/a> leading up to Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Another socialist candidate who was not successful this election year was <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3876436\/minneapolis-mayor-jacob-frey-defeats-socialist-omar-fateh-third-term\/\">Omar Fateh<\/a> in Minneapolis.
