The lawsuit argues that this requirement unfairly burdens students living on-campus and violates their First and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ohio-state-board-of-education-sued-for-allegedly-banning-criticism-of-1619-project\/\" title=\"Ohio State Board of Education Sued for Allegedly Banning Criticism of \u20181619 Project\u2019\">14th amendment rights<\/a>.It contends that the state&#8217;s guidance does not mandate such detailed facts and that the rejection of registrations disproportionately affects students at several Virginia universities. College students are denied access to the voter rolls and many are sent confusing, sometimes threatening notices indicating, in some instances, that they are not eligible to vote,&rdquo; the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/naacp.org\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/NAACPVA%20sues%20VA%20Election%20Officials.pdf\">lawsuit<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit also claims the state&rsquo;s guidance on voter registration does not explicitly require the information local election offices have requested from students. The state vote registration website, however, notes that local voter registration officials may contact students for more information if they are unable to determine their physical residency.<\/p>\n<p>The group claims voters at Norfolk State University, Virginia State University, George Mason University, James Madison University, Old Dominion University, University of Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University are among those affected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/proposed-change-to-floridas-resign-to-run-law-may-pave-way-for-desantis-2024-bid\/\" title=\"Proposed Change to Florida\u2019s \u2018Resign-to-Run\u2019 Law May Pave Way for DeSantis 2024 Bid\">voter registration requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is a clear attempt to rob students of the right to vote in a state where they study and potentially live once they graduate,&rdquo; Senior Associate General Counsel at NAACP&nbsp;Anthony Ashton said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>As of midday Tuesday, the federal court has not issued any injunction or ruling on the lawsuit.
