On Tuesday, a gallon of regular averaged $3.053, a slight increase from the end of October when national fuel costs were <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3870458\/gas-prices-no-frightening-or-spooky-costs-at-the-pumps-on-halloween\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$3.04 per gallon<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday&rsquo;s pricing was a slight increase from Monday, when the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.036, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to AAA<\/a>. It was also more expensive than a week ago, when gas prices averaged $3.044. A month ago, the price dropped to $3.14. But over the last month, fuel costs trended downward, with gas prices hovering near the $3-per-gallon price point by the end of October, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to AAA<\/a>. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $3.035 on October 27.<\/p>\n<p>GasBuddy, another gas analysis organization, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy\/3857019\/national-gas-prices-average-below-three-dollars\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that the national average for gas prices actually fell below $3 per gallon on October 20. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, touted the decrease in fuel costs, with the national average flirting with the $3-per-gallon price point.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Gas prices have finally fallen below $3 per gallon nationally &mdash; the earliest date we&rsquo;ve seen a $2.99 national average since 2020, when COVID was the primary driver of low prices,&rdquo; De Haan <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3864516\/gas-prices-last-week-of-october-cost\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> at the time. &ldquo;Currently, 35 states have average gas prices below $2.99\/gal.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Affordable gas has become a consistent reality during the Trump presidency. Since President <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> began his second term in January, gas prices have remained steady for essentially all of 2025 under the Trump administration, typically falling between $3.12 and $3.21. There was no customary surge in gas prices over the summer, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oliver-l-north-and-david-l-goetsch-at-the-edge-of-winter-a-crucial-contest\/\" title=\"Oliver L. Goetsch: At the Edge of Winter -- A Crucial Contest\">fuel costs began<\/a> the most recent decline as autumn arrived.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3864956\/trump-blasts-early-mail-in-voting-california-redistricting\/\">TRUMP BLASTS EARLY AND MAIL-IN VOTING, COMPLICATING CALIFORNIA GOP VOTER PUSH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma is now the state with the cheapest gas prices in the country, a change from last week. The Sooner State once again holds the distinction of having the most affordable gas in the country, with a statewide average of $2.58 per gallon. Next is Mississippi, with an average price of $2.583 per gallon. Texas is next at $2.586, followed by Louisiana at $2.598, and then Tennessee with an average of $2.618.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/california\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">California<\/a> has the most expensive gas prices in the country, with a cost of $4.66 per gallon, a four-cent increase from earlier this week. Next is Hawaii, which has a fuel cost of $4.483 per gallon, followed by the state of Washington at $4.27.
