The troops, part of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, will first undergo administrative screenings and training at fort Chaffee in Arkansas before heading to D.C. The deployment is expected to last several months.<\/p>\n<p>Brigadier General Chad Bridges praised the Arkansas Guardsmen for their training and professionalism, emphasizing their readiness to support the mission alongside the D.C. National Guard. As August 2023, National Guard troops from multiple states, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, and others, have been stationed in the district. They will be well-prepared and ready to integrate with the D.C. National Guard and accomplish the mission,&rdquo; Brig. Gen. Chad Bridges, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-members-want-natl-guard-to-go-home-new-theory-about-capitol-riots\/\" title=\"GOP members want Natl Guard to go home, new theory about Capitol riots\">adjutant general<\/a> of Arkansas, said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>The National Guard encampment began in the district on Aug. 11 and was last extended to Nov. 30 before last week&rsquo;s announcement extended it through February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Brig. Gen. Leland Blanchard of the D.C. National Guard previously said that troops should &ldquo;prepare for a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3857945\/dc-national-guard-winterizing-preparation-possible-deployment-extension-america-250\/\">long-term persistent presence<\/a>&rdquo; in D.C., possibly through the 250th celebration of America in summer 2026.<\/p>\n<p>As of Thursday, approximately 2,400 National Guard troops from the District of Columbia and states such as Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia, and Alabama were stationed in D.C. It was unclear whether these states&rsquo; troops were ordered to stay mobilized through February or whether the order only applied to the D.C.
