She emphasized the importance of religious freedom and called for international attention to such persecution. In response, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Mike Waltz thanked Minaj for using her platform to defend persecuted Christians and invited her to visit the U.S. Embassy to the United Nations in New York. Minaj accepted the invitation. Meanwhile, Nigerian officials acknowledged ongoing terrorism in the country but did not agree that Christians are specifically targeted, noting efforts by Nigerian leadership to combat insurgency.
