It has filled me with sadness, anger, but then the resolve to do much better,&rdquo; she said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/canada\/article\/military-apologizes-for-racialized-discrimination-we-failed-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;An apology, while necessary, is only the beginning,&rdquo; retired sergeant Wendy Jocko,&nbsp;a former chief of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/indigenous\/caf-apology-racial-discrimination-9.6960681\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Today we do not seek empty promises or hollow gestures, we seek transformative, deep, lasting, and meaningful change.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Jocko served 23 years in the CAF. Her parents both served in the Second World War, and she had grandparents who fought in the First World War.
