Of Floors?\">article reports<\/a> that six attorneys who signed subpoenas related to the Biden Justice Department&#8217;s inquiry, known as the &#8220;Arctic Frost&#8221; operation, are no longer employed by the DOJ. These subpoenas-nearly 2,000 pages released by Senator Chuck Grassley-were issued by Special Counsel Jack Smith&#8217;s team seeking facts on hundreds of conservative activists, donors, organizations, and senators as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >broader investigation allegedly aimed<\/a> at President Trump and his supporters ahead of the 2024 election. The subpoenas targeted various financial institutions,consulting firms,conservative groups,and individuals,including surveillance of Senator Ted Cruz&#8217;s office. Among those who signed the subpoenas and have since left the DOJ are Maria Vento, Erin B. Pulice, Brooke C. Watson, Matthew Burke, Timothy A. Duree,and Mary L. Dohrmann. Chuck Grassley on Wednesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/press\/rep\/releases\/new-jack-smith-subpoenaed-records-for-over-400-republican-targets-as-part-of-arctic-frost\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">released<\/a> nearly 2,000 pages of subpoenas issued by Special Counsel Jack Smith&rsquo;s team for their targets&rsquo; banking data, communications, and other information.<\/p>\n<p>The 197 subpoenas, issued to financial institutions, consulting firms, conservative organizations and PACs, individuals, and technology companies, were part of Smith&rsquo;s dragnet <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/29\/docs-biden-fbi-subpoenaed-records-of-major-conservatives-gop-groups-as-part-of-get-trump-probe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">searching<\/a> for incriminating evidence to bring down President Donald Trump and his supporters during the 2024 presidential campaign. The DOJ investigators even surveilled Sen. Ted Cruz&rsquo;s office landline, senators revealed in a press conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-270213049\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>All of the six attorneys who signed the subpoenas are no longer employed by the DOJ, The Federalist has learned. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-special-counsels-office-is-investigating-the-2016-dnc-server-hack\/\" title=\"Exclusive: Special Counsel\u2019s Office Is Investigating The 2016 DNC Server Hack\">assistant special counsel<\/a> who signed the majority of the subpoenas, Maria Vento, is no longer employed by the DOJ and has not been for at least a few months, a source familiar with the situation told The Federalist. A Maria Vento &mdash; presumably the same attorney before she parted ways with the DOJ &mdash; was credited in a DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/pr\/former-bureau-labor-statistics-economist-pleads-guilty-making-false-statements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>&nbsp;in April as an assistant U.S. attorney and was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacermonitor.com\/public\/case\/58292724\/USA_v_Arellano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arguing cases<\/a>&nbsp;on behalf of the government in May in North Carolina. Her name appears on more than 100 of the subpoenas released on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The source also told The Federalist that Erin B. Pulice, who signed roughly two dozen of the subpoenas as an assistant special counsel, is no longer employed by the DOJ. An Erin Pulice with the same middle initial was affiliated with the U.S. Attorney&rsquo;s Office for the District of Maryland, <a href=\"https:\/\/lawyers.justia.com\/lawyer\/erin-baxter-pulice-1599238\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to Justia.<\/p>\n<p>Brooke C. Watson, who operated as Smith&rsquo;s assistant special counsel and signed 18 different subpoenas in Wednesday&rsquo;s document trove, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/article310611450.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dismissed<\/a> by Attorney General Pam Bondi in August. She has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dynamisllp.com\/talent\/brooke-watson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">become<\/a> a partner at Dynamis LLP.<\/p>\n<p>Also fired is Matthew Burke, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/lawyer-who-threatened-innocent-defendants-joins-jack-smiths-trump-probe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joined<\/a> Smith&rsquo;s team as assistant special counsel in 2022. Burke signed subpoenas compelling former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale and former Trump communications director Tim Murtaugh to produce, among other things, communications in which they or others discussed the 2020 presidential election. Burke was <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/business-and-practice\/jack-smith-deputy-takes-investigations-chief-role-at-remote-firm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fired<\/a> from his role at the DOJ in late January. So <a href=\"https:\/\/globalinvestigationsreview.com\/just-anti-corruption\/article\/doj-fires-two-veteran-fraud-prosecutors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">were<\/a> Timothy A. Duree, a Special Assistant United States Attorney who signed a subpoena compelling documents and testimony from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/11\/29\/scott-perry-texts-unsealed-00129195\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">former DOJ <\/a>employee Robert Gasaway, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/04\/us\/politics\/trump-appeals-firings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">and<\/a> Mary L. Dohrmann, who signed a subpoena addressed to Christopher Miller, presumably Trump&rsquo;s former acting defense secretary.<\/p>\n<p>Bondi <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/5130612-attorney-general-bondi-root-out-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">promised<\/a> in February to &ldquo;root out corruption&rdquo; at the DOJ and launched a working group tasked with reviewing the weaponization of the Biden DOJ against Democrats&rsquo; political enemies.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Elle Purnell is the assignment editor at The Federalist.
