The commission, established over a century ago to advise on architectural projects in Washington, D.C., had members appointed by former President joe Biden, with terms lasting until 2028. Trump informed the commissioners via email that their positions were terminated immediately, citing differences with the management. The White House plans to appoint new members aligned with Trump’s America First policies. The commission traditionally plays a key role in approving such projects, which aim to shape the public’s experience of the nation’s capital and its historic buildings. The dismissals did not affect the commission’s staff or the Old Georgetown Board advisors.
