This request coincides with the release of a GOP report titled &#8220;The Biden Autopen Presidency,&#8221; which claims that Biden&#8217;s aides used a mechanical autopen device to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-is-off-to-a-fast-start-with-executive-orders-but-does-he-know-whats-in-them-and-can-he-explain-how-any-help-the-average-american\/\" title=\"Biden Is Off to a Fast Start with Executive Orders But Does He know What\u2019s In Them and Can He Explain How Any Help the Average American?\">sign executive orders<\/a>, clemency warrants, and other documents without his consent.<\/p>\n<p>Comer&#8217;s letter asks the Department of Justice to verify whether all presidential acts from 2021 to January 19, 2023, were properly authorized, including sensitive matters such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/126-ex-generals-admirals-warn-about-biden-u-s-in-deep-peril-health-a-concern-7-red-flags-emerging\/\" title=\"BREAKING: 126 Ex-Generals And Admirals Say Biden Is Mentally Unfit For ...\">national security decisions<\/a>. The inquiry also targets three senior Biden aides who have invoked their Fifth Amendment rights during the committee&#8217;s inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>A notable allegation involves 32 out of 51 pardons and commutations during Biden&#8217;s final days, purportedly signed via autopen without documented consent. The report questions the validity of these pardons, especially given testimony about an <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >unusual approval process involving<\/a> the White House chief of staff.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats criticize the investigation as partisan, and President Biden has denied the allegations, calling them false. (AP Photo\/Susan Walsh)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The report alleges that Biden&rsquo;s aides used a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/autopen\/\">mechanical autopen<\/a> to sign executive orders, clemency warrants, and other documents without confirming his consent, and that the DOJ should seek more documentation to ensure the former president properly assented to the actions taken in his name.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Barring documentation establishing a record of President Biden&rsquo;s decision-making, the Committee deems void President Biden&rsquo;s executive actions that were signed using the autopen,&rdquo; Comer wrote.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-comer-asks-doj-to-verify-biden-s-authorization\">Comer asks DOJ to verify Biden&rsquo;s authorization<\/h2>\n<p>Although the target of the committee is executive actions signed via autopen, the request made of the DOJ is broad and sweeping. The letter specifically directs Bondi to review &ldquo;all&rdquo; executive actions from the Biden presidency to ensure they were properly authorized, including possible national security or military matters. Comer also requested that DOJ examine the actions of three senior aides,&nbsp;Dr. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3466250\/biden-physician-dr-kevin-oconnor-house-oversight-committee-deposition\/\">Kevin O&rsquo;Connor<\/a>,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3474158\/annie-tomasini-house-oversight-deposition-biden-autopen-investigation\/\">Annie Tomasini<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3472329\/biden-aide-anthony-bernal-deposition-house-oversight-committee-autopen\/\">Anthony Bernal<\/a>, who invoked their Fifth Amendment rights during the committee&rsquo;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans argue that Biden&rsquo;s unelected staff &ldquo;worked recklessly and concertedly to hide the president&rsquo;s condition from the public,&rdquo; thereby assuming presidential authority in violation of constitutional limits. Comer said the review is necessary to determine whether the actions of those aides &ldquo;constitute criminal activity&rdquo; under federal law, though it is not a direct criminal referral by the committee.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-clemency-and-the-question-of-presidential-consent\">Clemency and the question of presidential consent<\/h2>\n<p>Among the most serious allegations in the Oversight report is that&nbsp;32 of 51 pardons and commutations&nbsp;issued in Biden&rsquo;s final days were signed by autopen with no written proof of his consent. The report cites testimony that then&ndash;chief of staff&nbsp;Jeff Zients&nbsp;verbally approved the use of the autopen through an aide using his email account with his permission, a convoluted setup on its own, and without knowing who actually used the autopen to apply the president&rsquo;s signature.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In light of the former president&rsquo;s cognitive deterioration and the cover-up from his inner circle, this &lsquo;approval&rsquo; process calls into question the validity of all pardons reportedly granted by President Biden throughout his tenure,&rdquo; the report states, noting that either proper documentation should be presented by Biden or all executive action signed by autopen should be &ldquo;void.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3814797\/biden-chief-of-staff-gave-most-damning-testimony-autopen-probe\/\">BIDEN&rsquo;S CHIEF OF STAFF GAVE MOST DAMNING TESTIMONY YET IN AUTOPEN PROBE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reaction-and-next-steps\">Reaction and next steps<\/h2>\n<p>Democrats on the committee have long dismissed the Republican-led committee&rsquo;s investigation into the former president as a partisan stunt lacking evidentiary support.
