Gavin Newsom&rsquo;s gerrymandering efforts, according to an Emerson College poll released Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/california-2025-poll-voters-poised-to-approve-proposition-50-with-57-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">survey<\/a> found that 57 percent of likely voters in California support <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/10\/16\/california-farmers-gavin-newsom-proposition-50-redistricting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Proposition 50<\/a>, the Nov. 4 ballot measure to allow the state&rsquo;s Democratic-dominated legislature to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/19\/california-republicans-gavin-newsom-sue-stop-redistricting\/\">redraw<\/a> the state&rsquo;s congressional <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/16\/gavin-newsom-california-house-map-democratic-gerrymander\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map<\/a> to flip up to five House seats from red to blue &mdash; while just 37 percent oppose the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/14\/gavin-newsom-california-democratic-gerrymander-liberation-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsom-backed<\/a> measure.<\/p>\n<p>Including undecided voters, the  increases to 60 percent of voters who back the redistricting measure, and 40 percent who said they do not support it, according to the poll.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom&rsquo;s office did not&nbsp;respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation&rsquo;s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;With less than two weeks until the California special election for Proposition 50, the measure looks likely to pass, with results again outside the poll&rsquo;s margin of error,&rdquo; Is UP from 2016!\">black voters<\/a>, whose support increased from 45 percent to 71 percent.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of if respondents intend to vote yes or no, 56 percent said they think the ballot measure is a good idea, while 44 percent think it is a bad idea, the poll found.<\/p>\n<p>Among Californians who plan to vote &ldquo;yes&rdquo; on redistricting in the Golden State, 89 percent said it is a good idea, and 11 percent said it is a bad idea, according to the poll.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, among those who plan to vote &ldquo;no&rdquo; to the ballot measure, 93 percent responded that it is a bad idea while 7 percent said it is a good idea, the survey found.<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, in Emerson College&rsquo;s September <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/california-2025-poll-majority-support-proposition-50-in-november-special-election\/\">poll<\/a>, 51 percent of likely California voters said they would vote for the proposition, 34 percent said they would vote against it and 15 percent were undecided.<\/p>\n<p>A Politico&ndash;Citrin Center&ndash;Possibility Lab <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/14\/vast-majority-of-californians-oppose-newsoms-redistricting-overhaul-new-poll-shows\/#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">survey<\/a> released in August found that at the time just 36 percent of California voters favor returning redistricting authority to lawmakers from the state&rsquo;s current California Citizens Redistricting <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/14\/california-redistricting-official-anti-trump-rant-gavin-newsom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commission<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom spearheaded the effort to redraw California&rsquo;s House map in reaction to Texas Republicans who proposed and eventually <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/23\/texas-senate-approves-new-congressional-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved<\/a> a redrawn map that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/07\/31\/texas-redistricting-hispanic-latino-voters-republican\/?ref=tippinsights.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seeks<\/a> to flip up to five seats from blue to red in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Barack Obama claimed on Wednesday that President Donald Trump and the GOP are aiming to &ldquo;tinker around with [congressional districts] to see if they can give themselves an advantage,&rdquo; Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/10\/22\/obama-prop-50-00618888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Obama has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RAhP_Hpmfpc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">appeared<\/a> in recent ads supporting Prop 50.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom, a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/08\/29\/gavin-newsom-2028-democratic-primary-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">likely<\/a> 2028 presidential candidate, wrote in a Wednesday X <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GavinNewsom\/status\/1981098546385605000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a> that Trump and his administration are &ldquo;explicitly saying they are going to change the rules of the game in order to insulate themselves from the people&rsquo;s judgement.
