This nomination came after the White House withdrew the previous nominee,Brian Quintenz,due to opposition from influential cryptocurrency investors like Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. Sacks says Selig&rsquo;s nomination helps further the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/trump-administration\/\">Trump administration&rsquo;s<\/a> goal to make the United States the &ldquo;crypto capital of the planet.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The CFTC is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-purges-us-commission-of-fine-arts\/\" title=\"Biden Purges US ... of Fine Arts\">independent federal agency<\/a> that handles the U.S. derivatives markets, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >including option trading<\/a>. The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/About\/AboutTheCommission\">agency&rsquo;s website says<\/a> its mission is to promote the &ldquo;integrity, resilience, and vibrancy of the U.S. derivatives markets through sound regulation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Selig replaces Brian Quintenz, whose nomination was challenged by crypto billionaires Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. The identical twins were concerned Quintenz wasn&rsquo;t aligned with Trump&rsquo;s agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Their opposition preceded the White House&rsquo;s decision to pull his nomination at the last minute.
