According to Trump, &#8220;conclusive&#8221; documents prove these officials approved actions involving surveillance on senators and congresspeople, and alleged rigging of the 2020 presidential election. The operation, approved in april 2022, focused on examining trump&#8217;s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results and laid the foundation for Smith&#8217;s indictment of Trump on election interference charges. Republican lawmakers, including Sens. Josh Hawley and marsha Blackburn, were also reportedly investigated and had their phone records analyzed. Blackburn has requested an investigation into the conduct of Special Counsel Smith in connection with this operation. The Department of Justice declined to comment on Trump&#8217;s claims but referred to prior statements by former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who characterized the Biden-era investigations as &#8220;weaponization&#8221; of the DOJ. These Radical Left Lunatics should be prosecuted for their illegal and highly unethical behavior!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The White House referred the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-justice\/\">Department of Justice<\/a> for comment. The DOJ declined to comment on Trump&rsquo;s statement and referred to Attorney General <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pam-bondi\/\">Pam Bondi<\/a>&lsquo;s comments during her <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/live-blog\/pam-bondi-congress-hearing-justice-department-live-updates\/\">Oct. 7 oversight hearing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Trump did not disclose which documents he referenced, his message appears to be related to an <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/doj_approval_to_open_arctic_frost.pdf\">April 4, 2022, document<\/a> signed by Wray, Garland, and Monaco. Among the GOP lawmakers targeted were Sens. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). Smith was <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >appointed special counsel<\/a> in November 2022, months after Garland approved the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>During her oversight hearing this month, Bondi described the Biden-era investigation as &ldquo;weaponization&rdquo; of the DOJ and assured Congress that &ldquo;weaponization is over&rdquo; under the Trump administration.
