Underly is rather attending an event at Indiana University to receive a distinguished alumni award. The hearing was called after reports by Madison&#8217;s Capital Times highlighted flaws in the DPI&#8217;s investigative processes. In response to the concerns, Nedweski plans to introduce legislation aimed at better protecting students from such misconduct. families deserve to know their kids are safe in school.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;At no point did Underly or her team even try to reschedule the hearing date with my office.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>DPI responded Friday&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/wisconsin\/article_785b1cd2-ddac-40d3-9427-ca167a486586.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in a letter<\/a>&nbsp;claiming the Capital Times should correct its story related to 200 investigations from 2018 to 2023 into teachers for sexual misconduct and grooming were shielded from the public.<\/p>\n<p>Nedweski announced she will&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/wisconsin\/article_2b17ffe0-57d4-4bb7-860d-844e0ba76787.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">introduce three bills<\/a>&nbsp;related to protecting students from grooming and sexual misconduct since the report, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >specific grooming law modeled<\/a> after laws from Illinois and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin&rsquo;s Senate Committee on Education also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/wisconsin\/article_bd9fd2ff-5c49-4838-86a1-6b8527760acc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">requested answers<\/a>&nbsp;from Underly in a letter, along with her presence at a committee hearing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3858661\/man-charged-stalking-wisconsin-chief-justice-karofsky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MAN CHARGED WITH STALKING WISCONSIN CHIEF JUSTICE: &lsquo;PLEASE EJECT YOURSELF FROM OFFICE&rsquo;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Five Wisconsin U.S. Congress members sent a letter to Underly requesting a thorough investigation into DPI&rsquo;s process.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Rather than covering up these allegations, each incident should be thoroughly investigated and, if verified, the public and the student&rsquo;s parents should be informed,&rdquo;
