In October, the DNC paid $1.6 million toward the campaign&#8217;s debt, bringing total payments to over $20 million. This significant expenditure has reduced the DNC&#8217;s cash reserves to $12 million, much lower than the Republican National Committee&#8217;s $86 million, putting the Democrats in a vulnerable financial position ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>Harris&#8217;s campaign, which lasted 107 days, spent an unprecedented $1.5 billion. Currently, Harris is touring to promote her memoir, &#8220;107 Days.&#8221; It remains uncertain if additional payments will be required from the DNC. She is now touring the nation to promote her new memoir, <em>107 Days<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear whether the DNC has to deliver more payouts, and if so, by how much.<\/p>\n<p>The DNC similarly paid more than $20 million to cover debt for former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/barack-obama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Barack Obama<\/a>&lsquo;s reelection bid in 2012. That debt was finally paid off in 2015 before the 2016 election, putting then-Democratic nominee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hillary-clinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> in a precarious spot while running against President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the days after Harris&rsquo;s election loss, former DNC official Lindy Li disclosed that the Democratic Party was about $18 or $20 million in debt after the campaign&rsquo;s &ldquo;$1 billion disaster.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3855996\/harris-says-democrats-are-doing-the-right-thing-resisting-republicans-on-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HARRIS SAYS DEMOCRATS ARE DOING THE &lsquo;RIGHT THING&rsquo; RESISTING REPUBLICANS ON SHUTDOWN<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The truth is this is just an epic disaster,&rdquo; she <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BreannaMorello\/status\/1855331925528912057\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Fox News<\/a> at the time. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s incredible, and I raised millions of that. I have friends I have to be accountable to and explain what happened because I told them it was a margin-of-error race.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Li said she felt &ldquo;misled&rdquo; by Harris for believing she would beat Trump.
