Tells Police Self-Driving Mode Malfunctioned.\">driver told police<\/a> that the original plate had been lost, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/post\/chp-pulls-driver-hand-drawn-license-plate-merced\/18000646\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KABC-TV<\/a> in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>But this wasn&rsquo;t a valid excuse.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While we appreciate the effort to stay compliant after losing the original plate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sean-duffy-withholds-millions-dot-funds-california-state-refuses-stop-licensing-truckers-cant-read-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California<\/a> law requires vehicles to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >display state issued plates<\/a> only,&rdquo; the California Highway Patrol wrote in the post.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If your plates are lost or stolen, you can easily get replacements through the DMV instead of breaking out the art supplies,&rdquo; the post said.<\/p>\n<p>The patrolman cited the Nissan Sentra driver with a $197 ticket, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2025-10-14\/a-driver-was-cited-for-using-a-drawn-license-plate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>California is known for cranking out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-artist-expelled-singing-contest-hours-finale-will-likely-face-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">artists<\/a>.
