According to a report by Axios, many Democratic hopefuls either declined to endorse Jeffries or refrained from commenting on thier support. Out of 113 candidates surveyed, only 24 pledged clear backing, while about 20 opposed him and 57 remained non-committal due to strategic,value-based,or leadership concerns.

Some candidates expressed a desire for stronger opposition against former President donald Trump, feeling that Jeffries’ current approach is insufficient. There is also criticism regarding Jeffries’ reluctance to publicly endorse certain party figures, such as New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.Despite this mixed sentiment, established democrats like Illinois Rep. Brad Schneider affirm that the party remains focused on winning the majority and maintaining Jeffries as Speaker.

while there is no fundamental disagreement with the Democratic Party’s anti-Trump stance, socialism, or other core policies, Jeffries’ leadership style and messaging appear to lack enthusiasm among the emerging candidates, many of whom seek a more aggressive approach.

New York Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ leadership role in his party is looking tenuous as potential congressional Democrats are not supportive of his position.

Jeffries took on the <a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/mitch-mcconnell-should-watch-his-back-because-a-close-ally-may-be-after-his-leadership-position/" title="Mitch McConnell's ... Axios contacted every Democrat with a viable chance in the 2026 midterms, receiving responses from 113 candidates. About 20 said they would not support Jeffries for minority leader or speaker-five explicitly stating they would vote against him-while another 57 withheld commitment due to timing, differing values, strategy disagreements, or concerns about party leadership and messaging.
