It&rsquo;s that he actually interacted with people.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He would answer tough questions from the left and from the right, and so I want to do that too,&rdquo; Vance said.<\/p>\n<p>The event at Ole Miss will be the only one at which Erika Kirk will make an appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet said Erika Kirk needs time to grieve for her assassinated husband, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/jd-vance-join-erika-kirk-turning-point-usa-college-event-mississippi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vance said striking a balance is essential for Kirk&rsquo;s widow as she raises their family alone.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I hope that she continues to kind of yes, keep Charlie&rsquo;s mission alive, and yes, do everything you guys are doing at Turning Point USA, but I also hope that she continues to grieve a little bit and to carve out some time for her and her family,&rdquo; Vance said.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, President Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-ordered-unique-changes-charlie-kirks-presidential-medal-freedom-final-versions-glorifies-jesus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> honored Charlie Kirk with a posthumous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-trump-honoring-charlie-kirk-presidential-medal-freedom-32nd-birthday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presentation<\/a> of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.<\/p>\n<p>In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/10\/national-day-of-remembrance-for-charlie-kirk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proclamation<\/a> declaring Oct. 14 a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk, Trump wrote, &ldquo;Every day, Charlie devoted himself to a set of simple causes: Defending the truth, encouraging debate, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
