She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-savages-judge-engoron-whopping-350-million-fine-ruled-even-saw-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won<\/a> the case in 2024 with the help of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gop-rep-stefanik-files-ethics-complaint-judge-engoron-alleging-bizarre-behavior-anti-trump-bias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corrupt<\/a> New York judge, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/eric-trump-schools-judge-says-father-inflated-value-mar-lago-laughing-foolishness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arthur Engoron<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In August, however, a New York state appeals court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/appeals-court-hands-trump-massive-victory-tosses-excessive-penalty-letitia-james-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tossed<\/a> Engoron&rsquo;s &ldquo;excessive&rdquo; fine. } <\/script> <\/p>\n<p>In other words, Trump had to contend with some despicable people on his way to winning a second presidential term.<\/p>\n<p>Trump-hating CNN, of course, will go to bat for all of those people.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What Tish James &mdash; and again, we&rsquo;re still getting the details &mdash; but if it&rsquo;s related to this mortgage issue, I mean, this is something that everyone in America, or many people, at least, if you&rsquo;re lucky enough to be able to buy a house in America, you deal with this. Right? The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mark-levin-uses-6th-grad-econ-test-to-show-harris-why-her-inflation-plan-wont-work\/\" title=\"Mark Levin Uses 6th Grad Econ Test to Show Harris Why Her Inflation Plan Won&#039;t Work\">federal government doesn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t go after all of these people, um, for doing this,&rdquo; Hunt insisted at the beginning of the clip.<\/p>\n<p>Normally, one does not include a speaker&rsquo;s pauses &mdash; &ldquo;um&rdquo; &mdash; as part of his or her statement. In this case, however, the pause spoke volumes. It signaled, in fact, that Hunt might have known that she just lied.<\/p>\n<p>The host then asked her guest, former federal prosecutor Berit Berger, how often this type of alleged bank fraud results in a federal indictment.<\/p>\n<p>Oddly, Berger began by downplaying allegations not against James, but against former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-james-comey-indicted-becomes-first-ex-fbi-director-history-indicted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James Comey<\/a>. Last month, a grand jury indicted Comey on charges of making false statements and obstruction of a congressional proceeding. Berger diminished these charges by labeling Comey&rsquo;s alleged transgression &ldquo;a process crime.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>No doubt the former federal prosecutor wanted to aid CNN&rsquo;s anti-Trump narrative by describing Comey&rsquo;s indictment as insignificant.<\/p>\n<p>Then, however, Berger hilariously undermined the entire premise of Hunt&rsquo;s question.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Mortgage fraud is something,&rdquo; the former prosecutor said moments later, &ldquo;it is really the bread and butter of most of the prosecutors&rsquo; offices in, uh, federal offices across the country.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Again, note the pause &mdash; &ldquo;uh.&rdquo; In this case, it seemed as if Berger knew she was about to demolish Hunt&rsquo;s premise.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I mean, they bring hundreds and hundreds of these types of cases every year,&rdquo; the former prosecutor continued. &ldquo;This is something that&rsquo;s not reserved for, you know, the few Jim Comeys of the world. This is something that we charge every single day.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">CNN&rsquo;s Kasie Hunt suggests everyone in America who buys a home commits mortgage fraud like NY AG Letitia James allegedly did.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If it&rsquo;s related to this mortgage issue &mdash; I mean this is something everyone in America &mdash; or many people if you&rsquo;re lucky enough to be able to buy a house&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MBVyPt5hYk\">pic.twitter.com\/MBVyPt5hYk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; RedWave Press (@RedWave_Press) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RedWave_Press\/status\/1976405853591761170?\">October 9, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Berger so casually and cheerfully undermined Hunt&rsquo;s argument that it almost seemed as if the former prosecutor appeared on the show for the purpose of defending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-former-fbi-director-james-comey-enters-plea-gets-trial-date-first-court-appearance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comey<\/a>, even at James&rsquo; expense. That might not have been Berger&rsquo;s motive. We cannot know for sure. But her exchange with Hunt really did come across that way.<\/p>\n<p>That, of course, raises another question.
