A district judge, April Perry, has issued a temporary restraining order<\/a> preventing teh Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops in Illinois for 14 days, ruling the deployment unconstitutional. This order, which ends on October 23, 2025, follows a lawsuit filed by Illinois and Chicago in response to President Trump’s decision to send 300 National Guard troops to protect federal officers and assets in chicago amid protests and riots near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview. Judge Perry expressed concern that the troop deployment would exacerbate tensions. Governor JB Pritzker praised the court’s decision, emphasizing there was no evidence of rebellion in Illinois warranting such federal action. A hearing is scheduled for october 22 to consider extending the restraining order. The White House has not commented on the ruling.
