A federal appeals court ruled<\/a> that teh oregon National Guard can remain under federal control by the Trump governance,rejecting Oregon Governor Tina Kotek’s attempt too prevent this. Though, the court also ruled that the Guard cannot yet be deployed to Portland. The deployment was sought by President Trump to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers amid protests<\/a> at an ICE facility,which the administration claimed involved violence,while local officials and protesters described the demonstrations as mostly peaceful and minimal in violence. A previous district court judge<\/a> had blocked the deployment, deeming it illegal and unsupported by conditions in Oregon. The Ninth Circuit’s decision maintains the Guard’s federal status but temporarily bars deployment until a hearing is held to consider the justifications. oregon officials welcomed the ruling as a way to avoid needless federal escalation in their communities.
