the U.S.Senate voted against a Democratic-led resolution aimed at preventing President Donald Trump from independently ordering additional airstrikes on boats off the Venezuelan coast that are suspected of carrying drugs. The resolution, proposed under the War Powers Act, sought to require congressional approval for such military actions. The vote failed 48-51,mostly along party lines,with nearly all Democrats supporting the measure and most Republicans opposing it. President Trump has authorized multiple strikes in the Caribbean recently, targeting drug traffickers, and has indicated potential expansion of such actions against foreign drug cartels<\/a> on land.
