Newsom highlighted the federalization of the California National Guard to Portland amid legal challenges, while pritzker condemned the deployment of Texas National Guard troops to Chicago as unconstitutional. Illinois and Chicago also filed a lawsuit to stop these troop deployments. Unlike the NGA, the Democratic Governors Association openly denounced the Trump governance’s actions.
