Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 of crimes related to child sex trafficking. However, her appeal to overturn her conviction was denied by the Supreme Court on Monday.<\/p>\n

“I haven’t heard the name in so long,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday evening when asked if he’d heard about Maxwell’s request for a presidential pardon. “I’d have to take a look at it. I would have to take a look.”<\/p>\n

“I’ll speak to the DOJ. I wouldn’t consider it or not consider it. I don’t know anything about it, but I’ll speak to the DOJ,” he continued. “I don’t know. I may not have to speak to the DOJ. I’ll look at it. I have a lot of people who have asked me for pardons.”<\/p>\n

When pressed on why he would consider a pardon for Maxwell, considering the nature of her crimes, Trump reiterated that he would “have to take a look at it.”<\/p>\n

“I have to ask DOJ. I didn’t know they rejected it. I didn’t know she was even asking for it,” Trump concluded.<\/p>\n

When asked in July whether he would pardon Maxwell, Trump told reporters he was “allowed to give her a pardon, but nobody’s approached me with it, nobody’s asked me about it.”<\/p>\n
