Alito Moves Up Deadline For Supreme Court Briefing in Pennsylvania Lawsuit to Flip the Election\">court&#038;rsquo<\/a><\/a>;s annual term.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mpdc.dc.gov\/release\/mpd-statement-arrest-outside-st-matthew%E2%80%99s-cathedral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According<\/a> to the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, authorities &ldquo;engaged an individual who set up a tent on the steps&rdquo; of Saint Matthew&rsquo;s Cathedral ahead of the Red Mass. Louis Geri refused to vacate the premises and was arrested. During the arrest, &ldquo;officers observed multiple suspicious items, including vials of liquid and possible fireworks, inside of the suspect&rsquo;s tent,&rdquo; the department stated. Geri was charged with unlawful entry, threats to kidnap or injure a person, and possession of a Molotov cocktail.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2017706676\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The incident unfolded as the church was set to celebrate its 73rd annual Red Mass. The mass, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stmatthewscathedral.org\/news\/cardinal-mcelroys-homily-73rd-annual-red-mass\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">church&rsquo;s website<\/a>, &ldquo;marks the opening of the Supreme Court&rsquo;s annual term.&rdquo; Several Supreme Court justices traditionally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2025\/10\/05\/molotov-cocktail-mass-st-matthews-cathdral-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attend<\/a> the mass.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Its purpose is to invoke God&rsquo;s blessings on those responsible for the administration of justice as well as on all public officials,&rdquo; according to the website.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes just days after Biden-appointed Judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/04\/biden-judge-gives-would-be-kavanaugh-assassin-light-sentence-as-left-wing-violence-skyrockets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deborah Boardman<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/04\/biden-judge-gives-would-be-kavanaugh-assassin-light-sentence-as-left-wing-violence-skyrockets\/\">sentenced<\/a> Nicholas Roske &mdash; who now goes by &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/22\/transgender-violence-is-a-national-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sophie<\/a>&rdquo; &mdash; to just eight years in prison for nearly assassinating Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Roske showed up to Kavanaugh&rsquo;s Maryland home with a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, lock picks, duct tape, pepper spray and other burglary items. <\/p>\n<p>Roske told investigators that had U.S. Marshals not spotted him outside of Kavanaugh&rsquo;s home, he would have tried to murder Kavanaugh. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/media\/1414626\/dl?inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Court documents<\/a> show Roske hoped to murder three of the conservatives justices in hopes of tilting the balance of power following the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/03\/the-only-reason-to-leak-that-scotus-opinion-is-to-bully-justices-into-submission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leaking<\/a> of the <em>Dobbs<\/em> decision which overturned <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The government&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/media\/1414626\/dl?inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sentencing memo<\/a> states that Roske&rsquo;s conduct &ldquo;required extensive premeditation. The defendant researched; planned; procured the tools for the planned killings; traveled across the entirety of the country with those tools, including a gun; and attempted to delete online evidence of motive and intent.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The defendant&rsquo;s objective &mdash; to target and kill judges to seek to alter a court&rsquo;s ruling &mdash; is an abhorrent form of terrorism and strikes at the core of the United States Constitution and our prescribed system of government,&rdquo; the memo continued.&nbsp;Prosecutors recommended Roske receive &ldquo;no fewer than 30 years to life imprisonment.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Roske was sentenced to just eight years. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
