Brooke Pinto, a member of the District of Columbia Council representing ward 2, has launched a campaign to challenge longtime Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton for her nonvoting seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Pinto is the second council member to enter the race, following Councilmember Robert White, as Norton, 88, faces increasing calls to retire and make way for new leadership. Pinto expressed respect for Norton’s decades of service and aims to build upon her legacy by fighting for D.C.’s self-governance, public safety, and economic fairness. pinto is known as a moderate Democrat, having supported reforms to the district’s criminal justice policies<\/a> and backing a major $3.7 billion deal<\/a> to build a new stadium for the Washington Commanders, which promises to revitalize the RFK Memorial Stadium.
