french Prime Minister S\u00e9bastien Lecornu resigned unexpectedly less than a month after his appointment. His resignation came just a day after forming a new goverment,which included the controversial appointment of Bruno Le Maire,former finance minister<\/a>,to the defense ministry. Lecornu, a close ally of President Emmanuel Macron, was Macron’s fifth prime minister<\/a> during his second term and held the shortest tenure in the history of France’s Fifth Republic. No official reason was provided for his departure, but speculation points to dissatisfaction with the newly named government and political opposition threats.Macron’s main rival,Marine Le Pen,called for snap elections,stating the situation had reached a dead end.
