Roske was found outside Kavanaugh&#8217;s Maryland home armed with a pistol and various tools, intending to kill multiple conservative justices to shift teh Supreme Court&#8217;s balance in favor of liberals, motivated by outrage over a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/weekend-of-intimidation-abortion-activists-descend-on-justices-homes-as-vandals-hit-churches-pro-life-groups\/\" title=\"WEEKEND OF \u2018INTIMIDATION\u2019: Abortion Activists Descend On ...s\u2019 Homes As Vandals Hit Churches, Pro...Life Groups\">leaked draft opinion indicating<\/a> the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade. Prosecutors had recommended a sentence ranging from 30 years to life, but Judge Boardman opted for a much lighter term, citing roske&#8217;s cooperation, apology, and family appeals. Boardman,a Biden-appointed judge with a history of left-leaning rulings,referred to Roske using female pronouns during sentencing. This case is part of a broader pattern of politically motivated violence from the left in recent years, including assassination attempts and attacks linked to ideological conflicts and issues relating to transgender individuals. That&rsquo;s apparently what the near-assassination of a Supreme Court justice is going for these days in the hands of a leftist judge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, U.S. District <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdd.uscourts.gov\/deborah-l-boardman-district-judge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Judge Deborah Boardman<\/a> of Maryland handed down a mere eight-year sentence to the man (<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/22\/transgender-violence-is-a-national-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">now insisting he&rsquo;s a woman<\/a>) who showed up at conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh&rsquo;s Maryland home with a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, lock picks, duct tape, pepper spray, and other burglary tools. And murder on his mind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>&lsquo;Abhorrent Form of Terrorism&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>Nicholas Roske, who now goes by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/22\/transgender-violence-is-a-national-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;Sophie,&rdquo;<\/a> would have tried to carry out his <a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/international\/us\/nicholas-john-roske-who-identifies-as-transgender-and-tried-to-assassinate-kavanaugh-in-2022-planned-to-kill-three-other-supreme-court-judges\/articleshow\/124011827.cms?from=mdr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deadly errand<\/a> had he not spotted the U.S. Marshals outside the justice&rsquo;s house. That&rsquo;s what he told investigators. The California resident, who was 26 at the time, had hoped to kill three of the high court&rsquo;s conservative justices in pursuit of swinging the balance of powers to liberals, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/media\/1414626\/dl?inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">court documents<\/a> state.&nbsp; He told investigators he was outraged after a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/03\/the-only-reason-to-leak-that-scotus-opinion-is-to-bully-justices-into-submission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leaked draft opinion<\/a> indicated the majority was about to overturn Roe v. Wade, ending federal protection of abortion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The defendant&rsquo;s criminal conduct &mdash; the Attempted Assassination of a Justice of the United States, in violation of 18 U.S.C. &sect; 351(c) &mdash; required extensive premeditation. The defendant researched; planned; procured the tools for the planned killings; traveled across the entirety of the country with those tools, including a gun; and attempted to delete online evidence of motive and intent,&rdquo; states the government&rsquo;s Sept. 19 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/media\/1414626\/dl?inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sentencing memo.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The defendant&rsquo;s objective &mdash; to target and kill judges to seek to alter a court&rsquo;s ruling &mdash; is an abhorrent form of terrorism and strikes at the core of the United States Constitution and our prescribed system of government,&rdquo; the memo added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Today, the U.S. Attorney&rsquo;s Office for the District of Maryland issued a sentencing memo following Nicholas John Roske&rsquo;s April 8 guilty plea for the attempted murder of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This attempt against the life of a Supreme Court Justice was an attack&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SYc3bBouMD\">pic.twitter.com\/SYc3bBouMD<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&mdash; U.S. Department of Justice (@TheJusticeDept) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheJusticeDept\/status\/1969115642218356983?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 19, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Prosecutors had recommended&nbsp; Boardman follow federal sentencing guidelines and sentence Roske to &ldquo;no fewer than 30 years to life imprisonment.&rdquo; The Biden-nominated judge decided to lean closer to the defense&rsquo;s more lenient recommendation. In delivering her sentence, Boardman followed the left&rsquo;s pronoun guide in referring to the would-be assassin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Though she got far too close to executing her plans, the fact of the matter is she abandoned them,&rdquo; Boardman said of the formerly named Nicholas Roske.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The judge took into account appeals from Roske&rsquo;s family, his apology to the Kavanaugh family, and the fact that the convict surrendered without incident and cooperated with law enforcement officials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>ABA Approved<\/h2>\n<p>Boardman&rsquo;s relatively light sentence should come as no surprise to those who have followed American jurisprudence on the left side of the bench.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/CREC-2021-06-23\/html\/CREC-2021-06-23-pt1-PgS4719.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nomination files<\/a>, the Maryland federal judge &ldquo;is the daughter of the American Revolution on her father&rsquo;s side and a first-generation American of Palestinian descent on her mother&rsquo;s side.&rdquo; Her mother was born in Ramallah, a Palestinian city in the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&rsquo;s White House cheered the former magistrate and longtime defense attorney as reflecting &ldquo;the president&rsquo;s deeply held conviction that the federal bench should reflect the full diversity of the American people &mdash; both in background and in professional experience.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Boardman has, like many of her fellow left-leaning federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-who-led-attack-on-robert-bork-confirming-judges-at-a-rate-not-seen-in-over-50-years\/\" title=\"Biden, Who Led Attack On Robert Bork, Confirming Judges At A Rate Not Seen In Over 50 ...\">district court judges<\/a>, ruled multiple times against President Trump&rsquo;s agenda. In August, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/judge-block-trump-birthright-citizenship-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a> that the administration cannot end so-called &ldquo;birthright citizenship&rdquo; for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/05\/nearly-one-quarter-of-u-s-public-school-enrollment-could-be-anchor-babies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anchor babies<\/a> born to illegal immigrants. The order butted up against a U.S. Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/27\/colossal-abuse-of-power-trump-slams-judicial-coup-as-scotus-reins-in-lower-courts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opinion<\/a> in June that reined in district court judges from <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >issuing sweeping nationwide injunctions<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In shorthand, here&rsquo;s all that may be necessary to know about where Boardman&rsquo;s judicial philosophy lies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The American Bar Association&rsquo;s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary gave Judge Boardman its highest, unanimous &lsquo;well qualified&rsquo; recommendation after evaluating her integrity, professional competence, and judicial temperament,&rdquo; then-Sen. Ben Cardin, a Maryland Democrat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/CREC-2021-06-23\/html\/CREC-2021-06-23-pt1-PgS4719.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in his letter supporting the judge&rsquo;s nomination.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Left-Wing Political Violence<\/h2>\n<p>Roske&rsquo;s assassination plot was one of many in a spate of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">left-wing violence<\/a> in recent years that has included two assassination attempts in 2024 on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/24\/after-gavin-newsom-targeted-ice-on-colbert-shooter-tries-to-murder-ice-agents-in-dallas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shootings<\/a> at Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, and the assassination last month of Turning Point USA founder <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/09\/23\/kamala-harris-pushes-same-dangerous-rhetoric-that-got-charlie-kirk-assassinated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Charlie Kirk<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And the incident marked another in a growing list of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/29\/violence-is-the-logical-and-desired-outcome-of-leftists-trans-victim-narrative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trans-related violent crimes<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the New York Post reported, Roske&rsquo;s defense attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/03\/us-news\/brett-kavanaughs-would-be-assassin-gets-just-over-8-years-in-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a> the judge for mercy because their client has a &ldquo;history of mental illness&rdquo; and the &ldquo;harshness of the conditions of confinement&rdquo; in a federal prison because of policies &ldquo;regarding transgender inmates.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
