The Department of Justice (DOJ) has initiated an investigation into the Portland Police Bureau following the arrest of conservative influencer Nick Sortor during protests near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon.Sortor, who was detained on a misdemeanor charge of second -degree disorderly conduct alongside<\/a> two Oregon residents, was released shortly after his arrest. He claims his arrest was wrongful and that he was acting in self-defence while recording clashes between protesters and federal agents. The DOJ probe, led by Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, was announced to Sortor by attorney General pam Bondi. Sortor criticized the Portland police for arresting him instead of individuals he described as violent Antifa members. The Portland Police stated that arrests are based on specific criminal acts and investigations continue for potential future charges<\/a>. The incident occured amid increased tensions in Portland, where the Trump administration deployed 200 Oregon National Guard soldiers to respond to ongoing protests, a move currently under judicial review.
