A large fire broke<\/a> out Thursday night at the Chevron oil refinery in El Segundo, California, near Los angeles. Emergency responders arrived quickly after reports of an explosion and massive flames, with witnesses describing the blast as feeling like a small earthquake. The fire produced large flames and smoke visible for miles, but no injuries have been reported so far. Firefighters contained the blaze within one area of the refinery, and no evacuation orders were issued for local residents, tho officials advised them to remain indoors and avoid the area. Air quality officials noted there have been no significant changes in air pollution yet but warned conditions could worsen as smoke settles. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office is coordinating with emergency responders to ensure public safety<\/a>. The Chevron refinery, operational since 1911, spans roughly 1,000 acres and can process up to 290,000 barrels of crude oil daily, primarily producing fuels like gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel.
