The state also introduced literacy screening for young students and expanded tutoring programs.<\/p>\n

Louisiana’s Superintendent of Education, Dr. Cade Brumley, credits these policy changes and the hardworking teachers for the improvement. Despite challenges related to poverty, Louisiana has climbed from last place in 2019 to 16th overall in reading, leading the nation in reading growth in recent National Assessment cycles.
