The White House has withdrawn the nomination of Brian Quintenz to serve as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading commission (CFTC). Quintenz, originally nominated<\/a> by President Donald Trump, previously served on the CFTC during TrumpS first term and part of President Joe Biden’s administration. Reports indicate that opposition from cryptocurrency investors and pressure from influential figures like the Winklevoss brothers contributed to the decision to pull his nomination. Although Quintenz had a confirmation hearing before the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, he was never put to a confirmation vote. Quintenz expressed gratitude for the possibility and plans to return to the private sector<\/a>. The CFTC oversees U.S. derivatives markets, including options trading, aiming to ensure their integrity and effective regulation. Republican commissioner Caroline Pham currently serves as acting head of the agency, and it remains unclear who will be nominated as Quintenz’s replacement.
