To avert a shutdown, which is expected to take effect overnight absent congressional action, lawmakers must pass a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government. Bipartisan support is necessary to break a filibuster in the Senate.<\/p>\n

“Republicans need Democratic votes to clear the filibuster,” Indivisible acknowledges in the “Call Now” campaign’s call-to-action<\/a>. “Democrats have a strong hand to play. They must use it to deny Donald Trump the blank check Republicans want to hand him!”<\/p>\n

Indivisible’s followers, called “Indivisibles,” are instructed to tell their respective senators ahead of the CR vote<\/a> that they are “counting” on them to “hold the line in the shutdown fight.”<\/p>\n

To be connected with the appropriate senators, participants fill out an address form allowing Indivisible to “target” their calls.<\/p>\n

The organization’s website provides scripted dialogue<\/a> to follow for the frenzy of phone calls.<\/p>\n

“I expect the senator to KEEP fighting hard until we get a deal that protects us from Trump’s healthcare cuts and lawlessness,” the call script says. “We can’t have a repeat of the last government funding fight – when Leader Schumer and some Senate Dems rolled over and let Trump keep weaponizing our taxpayer dollars!”<\/p>\n

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer <\/a>(D-NY) and nine other members of the chamber’s Democratic Caucus caught flak from party hardliners for working with Republicans to pass<\/a> similar spending legislation in March, a six-month budgetary bill<\/a> for further appropriations through Sept. 30.<\/p>\n
In response to Schumer “surrendering leverage,” Indivisible campaigned to drive him out of his party leadership position.<\/p>\n
Indivisible’s co-executive director Ezra Levin issued a statement<\/a> saying, “Senator Schumer should step aside as leader. Every Democrat in the Senate should call for him to do so, and begin making plans<\/a> for new leadership immediately.” As part of the pressure campaign, Indivisible also hosted an event<\/a> in which attendants wrote retirement cards addressed to the New York Democrat “since we have lost all faith in him as a leader and he needs to go.”<\/p>\n

Listed as a so-called “social welfare organization,” Indivisible is bankrolled primarily by Open Society Foundations, the nucleus of the George Soros grant-giving nexus. Between 2017 and 2023, the tax-exempt entity received more than $7.6 million in funding from the foundation, according to the OSF grant database<\/a>.<\/p>\n
The nonprofit group, headquartered in the nation’s capital, oversees 1,600 localized chapters<\/a> across the country within its national network and continues to enlist new recruits to join the “resistance.”<\/p>\n
In July, Indivisible launched an activism recruitment program<\/a> aimed at training 1 million anti-Trump protesters “to fight back” and facilitate the next stage of the movement.<\/p>\n
Marketed as “One Million Rising,” the curriculum, complete with protest toolkits<\/a>, teaches “the basics of community organizing,” “strategic non-cooperation,” and mass mobilization. “Let’s get organized. Let’s stop Trump,” the sign-up portal<\/a> says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
