It&rsquo;s a big deal and a great thing for the community to have Tina Turner in her small town.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Donors, of which there were about 50, included the Ford Motor Co., which gave $150,000 for the project, according to the AP.<\/p>\n<p>Turner was 83 when she died after &ldquo;a long illness&rdquo; in May 24, 2023, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/arts\/tina-turner-indomitable-rock-legend-and-survivor-dies-at-83\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to PBS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, she announced that she had dealt with intestinal cancer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/news\/tina-turner-illness-health-problems-rcna86096\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before her death, she also underwent a kidney transplant and suffered a stroke.
