He also advised the women to avoid giving their “young child” Tylenol “for virtually any reason.”<\/p>\n

“DON’T GIVE TYLENOL TO YOUR YOUNG CHILD FOR VIRTUALLY ANY REASON, BREAK UP THE [measles, mumps, and rubella] SHOT INTO THREE TOTALLY SEPARATE SHOTS (NOT MIXED!), TAKE CHICKEN P[ox] SHOT SEPARATELY, TAKE HEPATITAS [sic] B SHOT AT 12 YEARS OLD, OR OLDER, AND, IMPORTANTLY, TAKE VACCINE IN 5 SEPARATE MEDICAL VISITS!” he wrote.<\/p>\n

“There are studies out there that they reference,” Thune said on CNN of the announcement. “But again, I think there are an awful lot of people in the medical community who come to a different conclusion about the use of Tylenol,” he added.<\/p>\n

Thune said the administration should avoid making &ldquo<\/a>;broad assertions<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

“My view is we ought to be very guarded in making broad assertions<\/a> and make sure that they are well grounded in science and medicine, and where we’re taking the consultation advice of experts in the field and ensuring that these things are all well documented,” he said.<\/p>\n

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who is a gastroenterologist, said Tylenol linked to autism was “not the case” and pressed Trump health officials to release data to support their claims.<\/p>\n

“I understand and applaud President Trump’s desire to address this issue and to support [the Health and Human Services department]. HHS should release the new data that it has to support this claim,” Cassidy posted on X. <\/a>“The preponderance of evidence shows that this is not the case. The concern is that women will be left with no options to manage pain in pregnancy. We must be compassionate to this problem.”<\/p>\n

The Democratic Doctors Caucus said in a statement <\/a>that women should listen to their doctors and that “the White House has become a conduit for medical misinformation.”<\/p>\n

Trump urged women to “tough it out” earlier this week and not to take Tylenol unless they couldn’t bear the pain.<\/p>\n

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a leading association of women’s health, disputed the administration’s claims about Tylenol.<\/a><\/p>\n

“In more than two decades of research on the use of acetaminophen in pregnancy, not a single reputable study has successfully concluded that the use of acetaminophen in any trimester of pregnancy causes neurodevelopmental disorders in children,” the group’s president, Steven J. Fleischman, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“In fact, the two highest-quality studies on this subject—one of which was published in[the[theJournal of the American Medical Association<\/em>]<\/a> last year—found no significant associations between use of acetaminophen during pregnancy and children’s risk of autism, [attention-deficit\/hyperactivity disorder], or intellectual disability,” he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
