The two lawmakers have organized eight stops in the state to engage directly with constituents, despite the National Republican Congressional Committee’s proposal issued in early March to avoid town halls amid concerns over protests and heckling faced by other Republicans.

Paul and Massie have gained attention for sometimes opposing the party line, including voting against the GOP’s major “One Big Lovely Bill.” During thier town halls, both politicians have encountered polite and substantive questions, with no incidents of disruptive protests. Massie, who faces a tough primary challenge supported by former President Donald Trump, emphasized the importance of in-person interactions with voters and expressed confidence in Kentucky voters discerning misinformation from out-of-state influences.

The article highlights that Trump has publicly criticized Massie and supports another candidate for the upcoming May 2026 primary. Despite this, Paul and Massie continue their efforts to hear directly from constituents, underscoring their willingness to engage at the grassroots level.

Kentucky Republicans break with party leadership on town hall hiatus

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) are on a swing through Northern Kentucky, holding public forums throughout Massie’s district in a break from a coordinated lull in Republican town halls.

The two Kentucky lawmakers are hosting eight stops throughout the Bluegrass State’s fourth district to hear from constituents.
