Adelita grijalva won a special election<\/a> to fill teh late Rep. Raul Grijalva’s seat in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. The Democrat secured about 70.6% of the vote, defeating Republican Daniel Butierez. Having won a competitive Democratic primary earlier with endorsements from prominent figures like Senators Ruben Gallego adn Mark Kelly, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Senator Bernie Sanders, Grijalva will serve out the remainder of her father’s term untill the 2026 midterms. She shares many of her late father’s policy positions. Her victory maintains the House Democratic majority and gives the caucus the decisive vote needed for a bipartisan petition related to the Jeffrey Epstein files. Grijalva emphasized the election as a key opportunity to reject former President Trump and the MAGA agenda.
