The article reports that former FBI agent Peter Strzok lost a long-running lawsuit challenging<\/a> his 2018 firing over anti-Donald Trump text messages. Strzok had claimed his First Amendment rights were violated when he was dismissed due to texts criticizing Trump during his presidency. Though, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled that Strzok failed to prove the government infringed on his constitutional rights. The judge clarified that her decision did not address whether the firing was appropriate, only whether it violated his free speech rights<\/a>, concluding it did not.<\/p>\n

Strzok, who served in the FBI for over 20 years, was fired after text messages with FBI lawyer Lisa Page surfaced, in which they discussed potentially obstructing Trump’s presidential bid. These messages were used by Trump to portray the FBI as biased and engaged in a “witch hunt” against him. Strzok has denied that his personal views influenced his official duties,and an inspector general inquiry<\/a> found no bias in the russia probe.<\/p>\n

Separately, the Biden governance settled a privacy claim with Strzok and Page, paying them $1.2 million and $800,000 respectively, but this was unrelated to the dismissal lawsuit. Strzok now has the option to appeal the ruling to the U.S. court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
