Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans for a perhaps significant meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump during the upcoming united Nations General Assembly session. Zelensky described the week as an “intense week” of diplomacy, with over two dozen meetings scheduled with long-time supporters<\/a> of Ukraine and new partners, aiming to discuss proposals to help end the war with Russia.<\/p>\n

During this high-level UN week, which marks the institution’s 80th anniversary, Zelensky plans to address key issues related<\/a> to the conflict, including the return of Ukrainian children abducted by russia. This meeting with Trump would be their first sence their August 2025 White House encounter,following Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir putin.<\/p>\n

Zelensky emphasized the urgent need for strong international sanctions and pressure on Russia, especially amid ongoing Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine and recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. He warned that failure to stop Russia could pose a broader threat to Europe and the Indo-Pacific regions.
