The U.S. Department of Justice is seeking a 30-year prison sentence<\/a> for Nicholas John Roske, the man who attempted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Roske, who pleaded guilty to attempted assassination, had planned to kill up to three justices to influence future rulings<\/a> on abortion and gun rights.His plot was described as politically motivated and meticulously planned. Roske was arrested outside Kavanaugh’s Maryland residence in June 2022, carrying weapons and tactical gear. prosecutors highlighted his use of encrypted messaging platforms to communicate his intentions. Roske cited the supreme Court’s forthcoming decision to overturn Roe v.Wade as motivation for his actions. The case underscores heightened security concerns surrounding the Supreme Court following the leak of the Dobbs draft opinion. Roske’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 3,2023.
