The resolution, introduced by Speaker Mike Johnson, praises Kirk as a courageous patriot<\/a> and condemns political violence. It passed wiht strong Republican support and a divided Democratic caucus: 95 Democrats voted in favor,58 opposed,and 38 were present but did not vote. Democratic leadership allowed members to vote according to their conscience, reflecting differing views within the party.
