The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has urged Democratic politicians, left-wing groups<\/a>, and legacy media to stop “demonizing” DHS law enforcement officers. This plea follows a recent surge in violent attacks against ICE officers and the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin emphasized that inflammatory rhetoric targeting DHS personnel and supporters of former President Trump is fueling political violence, including a more than 1,000% rise in assaults on ICE officers. The DHS release points to various Democratic figures who have used harsh language against ICE, comparing them to “slave patrols,” “TrumpS modern-day Gestapo,” and “secret police,” which DHS says exacerbates hostility and endangers law enforcement<\/a>. The department warns that such rhetoric must stop to prevent further violence,especially amid recent incidents like a car attack on an FBI building deemed domestic terrorism.
