Adam Hollier,a former Michigan state senator and ex-member of Governor Gretchen whitmer’s cabinet,has ended his campaign for Congress and announced his run for Michigan secretary of state. Hollier previously served as director of the Michigan Veterans affairs Agency but resigned in october 2023 to pursue a congressional seat<\/a>. His campaign platform for secretary of state focuses on election security, voting rights, and fair legislative district mapping<\/a>, emphasizing the need to counteract efforts by Donald Trump and MAGA allies that he says threaten democratic freedoms.<\/p>\n

Hollier is a U.S. Army Reserve team chief<\/a> and paratrooper. He joins two other Democrats-Aghogho Edevbie and Barb Byrum-in the 2026 secretary of state race. michigan’s secretary of state election will coincide with the 2026 gubernatorial and lieutenant governor races. The current secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, is running for governor, as Whitmer is term-limited. Prior to this switch, Hollier had sought Michigan’s 13th Congressional District seat multiple times but was unsuccessful, including being disqualified in 2024 for insufficient valid signatures. The congressional race<\/a> now features five declared candidates,including the incumbent.
