That&rsquo;s on them,&rdquo; she said of Chicago on Fox News Tuesday night. &ldquo;Chicago should be begging Donald Trump for help to keep Chicago safe &mdash; yet they aren&rsquo;t. So we&rsquo;re going to a city who wants us there.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> teased that the announcement would be coming soon, possibly on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re going to be announcing another city that we&rsquo;re going to very shortly. We&rsquo;re working it out with the governor of a certain state that would love us to be there and the mayor of a certain city in the same state,&rdquo; he said on Tuesday. &ldquo;We&rsquo;ll announce it probably tomorrow.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3795999\/trump-troops-new-orleans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">floated New Orleans<\/a> instead of Chicago as the next city to see the National Guard. New Orleans is a predominantly blue city in an otherwise red state. Trump has said Gov. Jeff Landry (R-LA) has invited a possible deployment.<\/p>\n<p>Although Chicago is probably not the next city to see federal policing, Immigration and Customs Enforcement is targeting illegal immigrants in Chicago and Illinois as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/3797276\/dhs-launches-operation-midway-blitz-illegal-immigrants-chicago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Operation Midway Blitz<\/a>. Since the Department of Homeland Security announced the operation on Monday, ICE agents have made multiple arrests in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>DHS launched the operation in honor of Katie Abraham, a 20-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run car crash earlier this year, allegedly by a Guatemalan national illegally living in the United States. He was arrested shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3797271\/trump-federal-takeover-chicago-national-guard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TRUMP INTENSIFIES WAR WITH PRITZKER AS CHICAGO AWAITS IMMINENT DECISION ON FEDERAL TAKEOVER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In February, Bondi sued Chicago, Illinois, and Cook County over their <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >sanctuary laws protecting illegal immigrants<\/a> in the Department of Justice&rsquo;s first legal action taken against sanctuary jurisdictions. The lawsuit was dismissed in July, but the DOJ is intent on keeping the state&rsquo;s leaders accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Bondi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-publishes-list-sanctuary-jurisdictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sent letters<\/a> to many sanctuary cities and states, including Chicago and Illinois, demanding they comply with federal immigration laws.
