But the idea of socialism will not sell in the country,&rdquo; he added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnns-cillizza-says-gop-walking-dangerous-line-seeking-truth-kavanaugh-accuser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cillizza<\/a> continued, &ldquo;And if Democrats are branded socialists, and numbers like this make it pretty easy to do that honestly, and factual to do it, I do not think that they will win. I think you have to reframe this.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He urged the party&rsquo;s stars &mdash; New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, and New York Democratic Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-calls-jasmine-crockett-take-cognitive-exam-slightly-dumber-aoc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> &mdash; to drop their socialist labels entirely.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Poll Number That Could Sink Democrats | Chris Cillizza\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3JkEJjjg2QI?start=39&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He said Ocasio-Cortez could only hope for national viability in 2028 if she abandons words like &ldquo;democratic socialism and socialism.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he suggested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-backs-democrats-corner-announcing-comprehensive-crime-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrats<\/a> rebrand their platform as &ldquo;economic populism.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He said that if he were advising the party, he would convey that the Gallup poll results pose an electability threat.<\/p>\n<p>He argued Republicans could easily use the survey to brand Democrats as socialists and call them on rejecting the free market.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Those are things that I think Democrats have to worry about,&rdquo; he warned.<\/p>\n<p>Cillizza concluded, &ldquo;Socialism will not sell to the broad swath of the American public. It is a loser.
