New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that he will remain in the mayoral race<\/a> despite pressure from the Trump management to withdraw and improve former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s chances against socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani. At a press conference, Adams strongly criticized Cuomo, accusing him of sidelining Black candidates, and affirmed his commitment to seek reelection in 2026. Although reports suggested Adams might except a Trump administration nomination as ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Adams denied plans to be in Washington, D.C., emphasizing his focus on New York City. He expressed confidence that polls underestimating him are incorrect and pledged to respect voters’ decisions. President Trump responded by calling Mamdani a “communist” and urged unity behind a single candidate to oppose him.
