However, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of appeals has temporarily stayed this order pending appeal. The closure decision followed a lawsuit by environmentalists and the Miccosukee Tribe,concerned about environmental harm to the Everglades. The appeals court criticized the basis of the lawsuit and the judge&#8217;s reasoning, noting that the site was previously a busy airport with significant light and noise pollution, which were not adequately considered. After that, generators along with fencing and lighting were expected to be taken away from the detention facility.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desantis-vows-fight-federal-judge-rules-alligator-alcatraz-expansion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The lawsuit<\/a> prompting Williams&rsquo; ruling came from environmentalists and the Miccosukee Tribe, who claimed the facility could negatively impact the environment in the Florida Everglades.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everglades.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/42-1-Order-granting-stay.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">written opinion<\/a> for their 2-1 decision. Ron DeSantis did not just drop a prison in the middle of the Everglades, selecting a random location.<\/p>\n<p>The site was home to an airport.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit now looks even more ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security commented on the Court of Appeals&rsquo; decision, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/alligator-alcatraz-operations-may-continue-divided-us-appeals-court-rules-2025-09-04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This lawsuit was never about the environmental impacts of turning a developed airport into a detention facility,<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It has and will always be about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maryland-government-officials-worked-with-open-borders-activists-to-draft-sanctuary-law\/\" title=\"Maryland Government Officials Worked With Open B...s ...
