Republican North Carolina state Senator Bobby Hanig has announced his campaign to challenge Democratic Rep. Don Davis in the highly competitive 1st Congressional District during the 2026 midterm elections. davis narrowly won reelection<\/a> in 2024 by less than 2%, making the district a key battleground. Hanig aligns his campaign with former President Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda, emphasizing immigration reform, tax cuts, voter ID laws, Second Amendment rights, and opposition to the Green New Deal and critical race theory<\/a> in schools.
