\t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Caravello, 37, is accused of being part of a mob that tried to stop the July 10 Immigration and Customs Enforcement\/Customs and Border Protection action in Camarillo, California.<\/p>\n<p>It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dems-stand-child-laborers-found-weed-farm-protesters-fired-shots-ice-agents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was an action<\/a> that, combined with another raid that day in Carpinteria, California, resulted not only in the arrests of illegal aliens but the rescue of 14 children from &ldquo;potential exploitation, forced labor, and human trafficking,&rdquo; according to a Department of Homeland Security <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/07\/13\/ice-cbp-arrest-least-361-illegal-aliens-during-marijuana-grow-site-operation-rescue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">&#128680; sound like they could be summed in a single word &mdash; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/much-slavery-cali-gop-probe-aims-find-ice-raid-uncovers-child-labor-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slavery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even if there are wages involved, illegal aliens are underpaid compared to American citizens &mdash; it&rsquo;s why they&rsquo;re employed in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, Glass House Farms, the scene of the raid, said in a statement that it &ldquo;has never <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-seeks-gunman-in-uprising-against-california-drug-farm-raid\/\" title=\"FBI seeks gunman in uprising against ... drug farm ...\">knowingly violated applicable hiring practices<\/a> and does not and has never employed minors,&rdquo; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/more-than-300-arrested-immigration-raids-southern-california-farms-feds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, the illegal workers were there by the hundreds.<\/p>\n<p>And so were the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dems-stand-child-laborers-found-weed-farm-protesters-fired-shots-ice-agents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">children<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And so, also, was Professor Caravello, whose philosophy apparently includes attacking American law enforcement officers on behalf of criminals to keep children trapped in forced labor.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Caravello is accused of attempting to tear gas federal agents using one of their own canisters, fired to disperse the crowd of &ldquo;protesters&rdquo; trying to disrupt the action.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Border Patrol agents rolled tear gas canisters by protesters&rsquo; feet and Caravello ran up to one of the canisters and attempted to kick it. After the canister rolled past him, Caravello turned around, ran towards the canister, picked it up, and threw it overhand back at Border Patrol agents,&rdquo; a Justice Department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-cdca\/pr\/federal-grand-jury-indicts-cal-state-channel-islands-professor-charge-he-threw-tear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> recounted.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/crime\/csu-professor-charged-with-assaulting-u-s-agents-with-their-own-tear-gas\/ar-AA1LPKyq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>, Caravello was originally charged with a felony, but it was downgraded to a misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>Caravello pleaded innocent to the misdemeanor charge Aug. 25, the newspaper reported, but maybe he should have quit while he was ahead. By the time the grand jury was finished, it was a felony again.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Cal State Channel Islands <a href=\"https:\/\/math.csuci.edu\/about\/faculty.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">faculty directory<\/a>, Caravello is a lecturer in philosophy in the school&rsquo;s math program, so whatever his faults might be when it comes to understanding the law or the exploitation of children, he&rsquo;s clearly not a stupid man.<\/p>\n<p>But when it comes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jimmy-kimmel-admits-trump-derangement-syndrome-really-starting-taking-toll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump Derangement Syndrome<\/a>, the virulent ideological virus that turns leftists into mind puppets, no progressive is immune.<\/p>\n<p>It destroys their reasoning powers &mdash; a mob of unwashed leftists is not a match for a well<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-department-to-change-body-camera-policy\/\" title=\"Just... Department To Change Body Camera Policy\">-planned law enforcement operation<\/a>, no matter how willing its participants are to toss tear gas canisters.<\/p>\n<p>It destroys their moral powers &mdash; if defending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ice-rescues-children-marijuana-farm-la-mayor-responds-sanctuary-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">child labor exploitation<\/a> is the hill you want to die on, you&rsquo;ve lost your moral compass.<\/p>\n<p>An indictment only means an accusation, of course. Caravello has yet to be convicted in a court of law.<\/p>\n<p>But if he is convicted &mdash; and the smart money would probably bet in that direction &mdash; he could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, according to the DOJ news release.
